Teacher's Assistant- Preschool & Kindergarten

My name is Emily and I am the teacher’s assistant for Miss Lisa. I've been working at Oakridge for two years now with kids in preschool and kindergarten. I am from Yakima and graduated from Selah High School. I love working in Montessori education because I can see firsthand how beneficial it is in helping the children to learn not only reading, math, etc but also to grow in their confidence, curiosity and joy.

Qualifications:

-30 hours STAR training certification through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) MERIT system

-Annual continuing education and professional hours are fulfilled through state-approved early learning frameworks like the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) MERIT system

-Annual continuing education by attending the American Montessori Society’s (AMS) conference; known for being the world's largest gathering of Montessori educators, researchers, and school leaders
